SPORTea® Review: Workout Beverage For Athletes

SPORTea® is a tea blend made up of black and green teas, ginseng, electrolytes, ginger and other trace minerals and vitamins.

Created in Colorado by a herbalist looking to make a delicious and healthy active lifestyle drink, SPORTea®’s following and dedicated drinkers are hardcore about this beloved product… For good reason.

After trying out SPORTea® as both and hot and cold beverage I’m hooked. Not only is this an extremely tasty and refreshing beverage, the health benefits extend beyond hydration as the ginseng, ginger and black/green tea blends provide a ton of other benefits such as:

  • Clean, jitter free energy
  • Anti viral properties
  • Enhanced blood flow and improved circulation

Lastly, it’s important to note that SPORTea® is sugar, sodium, calorie and artificial sweetener free. Say good by to sugary sports drinks!

SPORTea® Review: Served As Iced Tea

The first time I drank SPORTea® I put a standard sized tea bag of SPORTea® inside a reusable water bottle with 10oz of water. I put it in the fridge and left it overnight until the following afternoon when I took it with me to the gym.

I started drinking it during my work out and let me say, this is one refreshing beverage. It’s naturally sweet but not overwhelming. The taste is lemony with a slight herb/ginger aftertaste; it’s totally refreshing and kept me hydrated during the workout. The best surprise was that this tea had no bitterness like normal teas do.

Also, I had great muscular energy during my workout and was never overly stimulated like normal pre-workout mixes and energy drinks can make you. SPORTea® is technically a “decaf equivalent” but has a small amount of natural caffeine in it.

SPORTea® Review: Served Hot

Prepared hot like a normal tea, the flavoring of SPORTea® is more intense than the cold brewed version. I drank it at the office while working and experienced similar effects from a single cup of coffee.

Conclusion and Tips

Personally, I love this drink most as a cold brewed tea I can drink during workouts. As a hot beverage it’s still a great tea, but the flavoring definitely gets more intense when prepared hot.

The main upsides of SPORTea® compared to other sports beverages and teas is that there’s no sugar needed to make this sweet and delicious and it can be chugged during a hard workout unlike regular ice teas.

That being said, to enjoy this cold, you must plan ahead and make sure it’s ready to go the next day for your workout. Brew it cold in the fridge or at room temperature over night and then ice it for best results.

If you don’t believe me, read the reviews on Amazon – this product has an amazingly loyal following for good reason. There are people on there who have been drinking this awesome tea for over 15 years!
