High Protein Recipe: Lemon Poppyseed Cake Bars

If you follow IIFYM or any other strict nutrition plan, it can be challenging to tame your sweet tooth. The good news is you can have your cake and eat it too!

Here is a delicious high protein recipe for lemon poppyseed cake bars! These bars have an amazing cake-y consistency and are the perfect macro-friendly treat!

Macros per cake square (1/16): only 40 calories 4g carbs(1g fiber) 1g fat 5g protein

Ingredients

Dry ingredients

Wet ingredients

  • 1/2 cup plain greek yogurt
  • 6 tbs unsweetened apple sauce
  • 2 servings of liquid egg whites or 2 regular egg whites
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tbs lemon juice
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 tbs of poppyseed

Directions

  1. Mix dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl
  2. Mix in wet ingredients
  3. Combine all ingredients together well and pour into a baking pan
  4. Bake at 350F( I baked mine for about 20 min but I have a conventional oven so time may vary for different ovens) I suggest just watching it
